Mesozoic Palaeogeography

A set of global palaeogeographies has been constructed for the Late Cretaceous stages (Aptian-Maastichtian) and Cenozoic sub-Epochs: Markwick et al., 1999. To these have now been added the Early Cretaceous stages. Once this work is published I'll add more information and figures to this page. For the time being the early versions of all of the Mesozoic maps can be accessed using the menu to the left.

LEFT: Maastrichtian palaeogeography (Generation I) for South Atlantic - southern Indian Ocean region. This shows the detailed bathymetry compiled in this study and used as the boundary conditions for a series of ocean-atmosphere modelling experiments in collaboration with Professor Paul Valdes (University of Reading).
