Geographic Information Systems are a tool that once used you wonder how you ever survived without it. All of my research now makes use of GIS technology to a greater or lesser degree, not just in terms of mapping data, but also in terms of devising dynamic models of the Earth System, concentrating especially on the interaction of landscape, biota (biogeography and biodiversity) and climate. This is a huge task, but I believe tenable given the databases of floral and faunal data I have compiled together with the climate modeling work and palaeogeographic and landscape mapping.
